This 1846 Lane and Tippett edition reprints Spencer’s account of his capture as a child by Mohawks near present-day Cincinnati in 1790, his ransom at Detroit, and eventual return home to Columbia, Ohio, in October 1795. Originally published in 1835, the narrative remained popular through numerous editions into the 1870s.
