Scarce early Bukowski poem in a mid-century Southwestern literary journal
A noteworthy American campus literary magazine for its appearance of Charles Bukowski, then largely unknown, who contributes the poem “Poem for Personnel Managers; As the Sparrow.” Bukowski’s work had first appeared in Story in 1944. By 1957, he had only begun to surface in small magazines and alternative journals. Other contributors include E. William Blau, Richard Elman, Albert Paris Leary, Lachlan MacDonald, Joe E. Mettler, Joseph Slotkin, Alfred Sundel and Carleton Winston.
