Reminiscences of Saratoga and Ballston. (Association Copy)
—
Dedicated by the author to Hon. Charles S. Lester, the upright judge and public-spirited citizen. This particular copy is inscribed by Judge Lester himself in the year of publication to a relative on the front free endpaper: “C.S.L. to John Willard Lester Saratoga Springs August 7, 1875.”
A well-preserved example of this lively regional history, covering Saratoga’s development as a fashionable resort (Saratoga Springs), Revolutionary War connections, and local lore. Includes extensive appendix with biographical sketches and local historical notes. In the first Appendix, essentially a bibliography, a reader has made extensive notes in pencil throughout the text and margins.
