Tennis Shoes follows the lives of the four Heath children as they explore competitive tennis, encouraged by their family’s tennis legacy and their grandfather’s and father’s involvement in the sport. With illustrations by D.L. Mays. Now protected in a clear mylar wrapper.

London: J.M. Dent & Sons, Ltd., (1937). Octavo. 227, [1, colophon] pages. Illustrated. Original publisher’s cloth, without the scarce dust jacket. Binding shows general soiling with small splits to the cloth along the spine shoulder of the lower cover. Remnants from pencil erasures to half-title and title page; light staining to pages 64–65. There are three inscriptions on front endpaper: “J.H.F. Batstone, Cambridge. 1945. Gillean [Gillian?] M. Prestwick, from Grannie, Easter 1938 [1937?] (K.M. Williamson)”. A sound and presentable copy.
