Mama Dip’s Family Cookbook. (Signed, first edition)

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author on the half-title page. Celebrated collection of Southern recipes and stories by Mildred “Mama Dip” Council. Born in Chatham County, North Carolina in 1929, Council became known for her unpretentious cooking rooted in local traditions and family memory. Her Chapel Hill restaurant, Mama Dip’s Kitchen, attracted a national following by the 1990s, and this cookbook helped cement her status as an ambassador of down-home Southern fare. In addition to recipes for staples like fried chicken, collards, and sweet potato pie, Council offers reminiscences of her upbringing and working life, capturing the rhythms of a Black, working-class food culture shaped by resilience and care.
