David Eustace Henderson (1875–1933), a prominent attorney and political figure, was born in Texas and raised in Emporia, Kansas. He earned his law degree from the University of Kansas in 1904. Henderson established his legal career in Kansas City, where he gained influence as both a lawyer and a political leader. He served as deputy to the county attorney of Wyandotte County for three consecutive terms. Recognized for his legal acumen, he was appointed special assistant to the U.S. Attorney General during President Hoover’s administration. He passed away in Chicago in 1933.

Henderson’s photograph was taken by the Scurlock Studio, Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Black-owned firm, known for documenting prominent Black Washingtonians and luminaries such as Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
