Golden, Colorado, established in 1859 during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush, was originally named “Golden City” after prospector Thomas L. Golden. From 1862 to 1867, it served as the capital of the Colorado Territory. The city became a crucial supply hub for miners, fueling its growth and regional importance.
