Ca. 1890s photograph of women workers at S.N. Gaut & Co., Boston Bakers.

Two women in aprons pose on the steps of S.N. Gaut & Co., Bakers of Boston. Established in 1840 with five locations, the bakery sold plain and fancy breads and cakes. In the left window, bread rolls, sandwich loaves, and cookies are visible. On the right, glass-domed stands display cookies, bars, and decorated cakes. The 12 La Grange Street store was closest to Commercial Photo Company. An image with condition issues, but still sharp with good tonal contrast and likely unique.
