From 1845 to 1893 the railroad operated in southeastern Massachusetts and adjacent parts of Rhode Island. In 1893 the line was taken over by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. In 1936, when this certificate was redeemed by Nickerson, the company was in bankruptcy proceedings. An engraved vignette depicts carts and wagons along side an Old Colony RR train departing a busy maritime port.
