Ca. 1940s St. Petersburg, Florida Military or Veterans Parade.
—
Snapshot photograph of the color guard leading a parade down St. Petersburg’s Central Avenue. The parade may have been a WWII-era bond rally or a post-war victory celebration.
Arnold’s Men’s Wear, founded in 1935 by Jewish-American Arnold Argintar and relocated to Central Avenue in 1941, can be seen in the background. Adjacent to Arnold’s are K B Printing, Hill’s Shoe Repair, Berkman’s Cut Rate Jewelry and Luggage, and Mowrer Watchmaker.
In solidarity with U.S ally Great Britain, a British Ensign flag is present in the color guard, along with an American Legion flag and that of at least one other veteran’s group.
