First edition of the first history of Elizabeth Town, New Jersey, founded in 1664 and known as Elizabethtown until 1855. This copy with the pencil ownership inscription of John J. Bryant —a First Presbyterian Church member who served on the committee that charged clergyman Nicholas Murray to write the book (see page xii).

The text includes much on the settlement of the town, the First Presbyterian Church, East Jersey, and on the American Revolution. With biographical sketches.
