Engraving by James Akin, signed “J. Akin Sc. Philada” and published by William Duane in 1809. “This engraving, which was copied on various United States postage stamps, was published in Franklin’s “Works,” V. 4, Philadelphia, 1809, as a frontispiece. It is after the bust made by Giuseppe Cerrachi in 1784.” (NYPL, 100 Notable American Engravers, 16).
