The Foreshadowed Way.
Helen Aldrich De Kroyft (1818-1915) became blind and widowed in mid-life. To support herself and her family, she authored, self-published, and sold by subscription, as her own itinerant book agent, numerous works. Mortara is perhaps her best known work.
The Foreshadowed Way was first published in 1901 and De Krofyt reissued it, as seen here, in 1908. The text is epistolary and autobiographical, but often presents in the style of a novel. For this edition, 5 copies in OCLC, all but one in New York State.
