Two early and substantial partly-printed forms, dated 1806. Both forms were printed by a job printer, likely in Philadelphia for William Banks, Ship-Broker. The form, documenting goods damaged in shipment, is unusual in its presentation showing the data in tabular columns. Note the MS. figures in the column labeled “Marks.”
Both forms are signed by John Graff, born c.1760, a Revolutionary War militia veteran who served as Deputy Collector of customs at the port of Philadelphia from 1784 until 1811 or 1812. See To George Washington from John Graff, 21 October 1793 [Founders Online] accessed online.
