Rare and unrecorded souvenir program for a Grand Parada and Carnival of Opera—staged selections from popular operas and tableaux vivants—presented under the direction of Capt. Charles W. Eddy of The Huntington Bureau in Boston and produced at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The spectacle with its numerous local participants—mostly women—was staged for the benefit of The Women’s Auxiliary to the Phoenixville Hospital. The operatic selections were produced in costume and with grand choruses and dances “enhanced by Calcium and Electric Light effects.” The four “stage pictures” or tableaux vivants depicted “Fairyland,” “Patriotism,” “Romney [Romany] Revelries,” and “Oriental Splendor.” Each tableau is described within the program. With lists of participants and “Patronesses” plus local ads and “Opinions of the Press.”
