Published in Charlotte, North Carolina, a revised edition of the ecclesiastical discipline, rules of governance, administrative procedures, and ritual of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (A.M.E. Zion or A.M.E.Z.). The revision was issued following a General Conference of the church held in St. Louis in 1904 and promulgated the following year.

The Committee on Revision, under the chairmanship of Bishop James Walker Hood (1831–1918) of North Carolina, formally approved the new Doctrines and Discipline in 1905 and ordered it to be published by the church’s publishing concern in Charlotte. Includes a brief history of the church’s 18th century background before its formal organization in 1821 and an Appendix including lists of church conference and board leaders and an approved outline of courses for ministerial study.
