Program of the 1971 annual meeting of The Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), held that year at the Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. With detailed schedules and descriptions of the meetings sessions and presenters.  Topics examined include “Marx, Fanon, and Black Students”; “Black Reconstruction”; “Black Students, Black Studies, Black Power”; “Freemen and Freedmen”; “Black English, with or without Black Studies”; and “Conceptions of Black Womanhood.” Presenters included John Hope Franklin, Marguerite Rogers Howie, Benjamin Quarles, Herbert Aptheker, and Sara D. Jackson of the National Archives. Several ads for publishers of Black history, biography and literature.
