Wedding souvenir book with manuscript additions

Arranged and anthologized by a married woman, this collection of love and marriage features both poetry and prose. The anthology features works by women poets and authors such as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Jean Ingelow, Mrs. Sigourney, Dinah Mulock Craik, Louisa C. Tuthill, Mrs. Mary Howitt, and the Countess of Gifford.

Bound in white cloth, Married Life was designed as a partly blank book to be completed as a wedding souvenir. An engraved wedding certificate-like leaf records the 1912 marriage of a couple in Philadelphia, a handwritten list records their wedding guests.

A well-preserved artifact and an fairly early American dust jacket.
