Report of the Secretary of the Interior ... on the late Indian war in Oregon and Washington Territories.

An Indian war in Oregon and Washington Territories and interfering Mormons

Graff – “Browne’s report is in the form of a letter dated from San Francisco, December 4, 1857, and occupies only pages 2-13. The rest of the volume contains J. B. A. Brouillet: Account of the Murder of Dr. Whitman, and the Ungrateful Calumnies of H. H. Spalding ..., pages 13-66. The Account had appeared first in New York in 1853 and was reprinted shortly before the present printing in the New York Freeman’s Journal. The letter by Browne is a general review of Indian-white relations from the time of Lewis and Clark.”
