Rare 1809 circular establishing the Anglo-Maltese Bank in Malta.

Exceedingly rare and unrecorded printed circular establishing the Anglo-Maltese Bank in Malta. The first institution in Malta to actually call itself a bank was the Anglo-Maltese Bank, established on 23 June 1809, nine years after the British took control of Malta. The circular spells out all of the particulars involved in the formation of this bank. Principles of the Establishment, Amount of capital and shares issued, the qualifications of the bank’s president and its Directors, deposits of bullion, and so forth, are all delineated. The second leaf primarily concerns itself with listing the names or entities holding bank shares.
