“365 blessed days…”

Pharmacy-themed Christmas and New Year’s greeting featuring Santa Claus “dispensing” luck and good fortune: “Medicines to be used 365 blessed days with 1000 greetings to be given free at the health department of the Free and Pure Air Association.”

This postcard by Luther Curtis Phifer (b. 1885) depicts Santa Claus as a health advocate, evoking the connection to the newly enacted Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. Phifer, a commercial artist, worked as a cartoonist for the Worcester, Massachusetts Telegram. In 1917, he published Men of Worcester in Caricature, a collection of drawings featuring the city’s industrial leaders and industries.

An excellent example, never folded or mailed.
