The produce and abundance of Citrus County, Florida on display at the Ocala Exposition. The exposition was begun circa 1890 to promote and advance the development of citrus and other tropical and semi-tropical fruits in Florida.

Two photographs show Citrus County’s section of the exhibition hall with citrus fruits and tomatoes neatly arranged on tables plus bottles of jarred fruit, tanned animal skins, quilts and other textiles, and iron sculpture. Hand-lettered signs on the wall explain the exhibits and tout the county’s attractions. Another photo shows timber specimens from Ocala County from over 16 species of trees such as pine, cedar, mahogany, iron wood, wahoo, quassia, and cypress.

The fourth photo shows a “Special Fruit Exhibit” of crated and stacked tropical fruits such as citrus and bananas. Behind the tables stand stylized citrus “trees” made out of branches and augmented with crossed palm fronds.
