From Sicily to San Francisco, an accordion star is born…

A sizable portrait photograph of this Sicilian virtuoso accordionist, one of the first to be recorded on an Edison cylinder record and a staple on the American vaudeville circuit. Frosini emigrated to San Francisco from Sicily in 1905 and was discovered shortly thereafter by a talent scout.

Inscribed by Frosini: “To one of God’s perfect Child – Miss Marie Gamboni. With the purest kind of love. P. Frosini. August 2, [19]14.” Along with Pietro and Guido Diero and Anthony Gall Rini, Frosini was “among the virtuoso accordionists and composers from Italy and other European nations who helped to popularize the instrument in the United States during the early 20th century.” (Ron Emoff)
