An Ohio Woman in the Philippines.

Conger’s narrative of her two years in Philippines with her son as well as her travels and observations of life in culture in Honolulu, Hawaii, Japan and China. The book is very well-illustrated with halftone plates.

Emily Bronson Conger (1843-1917) “became a doctor of osteopathy in 1903 [see Chapter 19], joining some of the first in this field in the world. Her great-great-grandfather was a surgeon in Washington’s army, and her grandfather was one of the first settlers of Ohio. She was influential in organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, and Women’s Relief Corps.” (Colonel Arthur L. Conger online)
