1936 gallery exhibition curated by John D. Graham (1886 – 1961) for Jacques Seligmann Gallery of New York City. Of the 130 offered pieces, various owners included George Gershwin, Ben Hect, Helena Rubenstein, Miguel Covarrubias, and Graham himself. Graham was an American Modernist painter and collector. The patron of Duncan Phillips, “Graham was a collector of African sculpture and an art dealer. In 1942, he organized the first exhibition of Jackson Pollock’s paintings in NYC, and was an important mentor to the sculptor David Smith.” (Falk)
