Additional lists of names and addresses cover various government departments such as street commissioners, manure inspectors, tax collectors, almshouse, city prison, the Board of Health, justices, surveyors, police, clerks of markets, and commissioners to investigate the causes of fires. With by-laws: “Rules and Orders of the Board of Aldermen…Passed May, 1838,” the “Rules of Order of the Board of Assistant Aldermen of the City of New York,” and “Joint Rules of the Boards of Aldermen and Assistants for 1838.”
