Volume of poetry by Methodist minister, author, and editor, James B. Kenyon. Kenyon is believed to have been a one-time protégé of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. According to his Hartford Courant obituary, he was a friend of William Dean Howells and Walt Whitman.

Inscribed, thus: “With Christmas Greetings to Mr. Horace Morse from Mrs D.M. Kenyon, Mother of the Author.” This is likely Horace J. Morse (1830 – 1931), thirteenth Adjutant General of the State of Connecticut and partner in A.M. Kidder & Co.
