A scarce photograph showing Company A of the 100th Infantry of the Albany Zouave Cadets at military attention and in full dress in front of their pitched tents. The image is captioned further in small type along the bottom: “In Camp, Cooper House Grounds, Cooperstown, N.Y., Aug. 5th, 1873.” According to the New York State Library: “The Albany Zouave Cadets, organized in 1860, became Company A of the 10th New York Militia Regiment of Infantry. During the Civil War, it was incorporated into the 177th New York Volunteers for a service of nine months. It was engaged principally in the Siege of Port Hudson, Louisiana. After the war members of the unit formed a veterans organization that held summer encampments and other events that featured military like pageantry.”
