Their teacher explains that “I asked if each one would bring in a recipe or little story of how mother cooked the meat, fish or other foods used. ... Soon we had enough to start our little book.” (p1) Recipes include such foods as “Lincod Eskimo Ice Cream,” “Bullheads (kahne-zoo’wuk)” [fish], “Ah-lowe-kuk (wild chard),” “Pussy Willow Greens (Sourah),” ptarmigan, “Bear Feet (fresh),” walrus stew, “Oogruk Flippers (Ooshak)” [seal], and reindeer soup.
