Rare. According to Arndt and Eck, printed in German and English by Conrad Zentler of Philadelphia. The English caption title reads: “Professorship of German literature and science. A letter addressed to the Germans of Pennsylvania, and other parts of the United States, by the Rev. Timothy Alden, president of Alleghany College.” The tract was intended to raise funds by subscription for the college which was founded in 1815 by Alden, a graduate from Harvard’s School of Divinity.
