Oration, Pronounced at the Semi-Annual Exhibition of the Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary, Wednesday Evening, Jan. 27th, 1841, before the Oratorical Association.


Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary was an outgrowth of Gouverneur High School incorporated in 1828 in St. Lawrence County, New York. The seminary was conducted by the Black River Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

The theme of the Oration was the cultivation of the skill of oratory. It was delivered by Rev. William Ward Ninde, a prominent Methodist preacher in New York State and the father of Bishop William X. Ninde (1832–1901). Rare, OCLC recording one copy (U. Rochester).
