[1853 Autograph Letter Signed by Georgetown College Student Louis A. Greneaux of Louisiana].

Letter by Georgetown College student Louis A. Greneaux, writing in French to his male friend Dranquet, discussing his family in Louisiana and expressing satisfaction with the college. Greneaux mentions his family’s recent move from Natchitoches to Baton Rouge, Louisiana after his father, Charles E. Greneaux, was elected state treasurer.

Greneaux was an academically prominent member of his class at Georgetown and was active in the college’s Philonomosian and Philodemic societies and its Reading-Room Association. By 1862 he appears to be a slaveholder in Natchitoches Parish.
