Yonkers, Westchester County, New York grocer’s bond issued to Aaron Vark and William Norman. The bond pertains mostly to the sale of “...strong and spiritous Liquors and Wines, in quantities less than five gallons, as a grocer…” Vark is particularly enjoined to “...not suffer his grocery to become disorderly, and shall not sell, or suffer to be sold, any strong or spiritous liquors or wines to be drank in his shop, or house, or in any out-house, yard or garden appertaining to…[or] to be drank in his shop or house…” The document is signed by Vark and by O.C. Denstone. It is additionally signed by the Commissioners of Excise (who approve the surety of the bond): Caleb Smith, Supervisor, and Thaddeus Rockwell, O.C. Denstone (again), and C. Dederer Jr., Justices.
