Getting ready for a good time in Natchez, Mississippi


Natchez, Mississippi inn and tavern license issued to three men: Phelps or Phillips L. Randtel, R.L. Smith, and John H. Nurman. As the principal in the venture, located “...in the corporation of the City of Natches [sic]...,” Randtel was bound and licensed to forbid gambling and to “...keep an orderly Inn and Tavern…and maintain good order, and find and provide good and wholesome and sufficient lodging, diet and entertainment for Man, and stabling and provider for Horse…” The license was printed five years after Mississippi achieved statehood.
