Presentation Copy from Fletcher M. Green (1895–1978) who edited, wrote the introduction and provided notes for this important memoir first published in 1887, “The classic evocation by a Southerner of life on a Mississippi slaveholding plantation before, during, and after the Civil War.” (publisher) Mr. Green, an author at University of North Carolina history professor, presented this copy to his wife, Mary Frances.
