Biography of Black newspaper editor, civil rights activist, bank president and politician, John Mitchell, Jr. (1863–1929) of Richmond, Virginia, best known for his anti-lynching crusade in the 1880s. Mitchell led a boycott against segregated streetcars and as editor of Black newspaper, The Richmond Planet, he campaigned for Black civil rights and uplift.
