The Negro in Congress, 1870–1901.


Chapters include “The Negro in the Senate,” “The Negro in the House of Representatives during Reconstruction, 1877–1901,” and “Unsuccessful Negro Aspirants for Congress.” The author was a professor at Mississippi State College for Women, the first public women’s college in the United States.  This copy from the library of University of North Carolina history professor, Fletcher Green (1895–1978).
