The Negro in Hollywood Films.


The text was expanded from a lecture of the same title given by the author in New York City in 1950 at a public forum sponsored by the Marxist cultural magazine, Masses & Mainstream. Sections within include “Roots of Hollywood’s Racism,” “The ‘Negro Interest’ Films,” “The New Stereotype,” and “The Innocent Oppressors.” Author V.J. Jerome was editor of the Marxist journal Political Affairs and the chairman of the Communist Party’s National Cultural Commission.
