First published in 1944, this new edition issued as part of a uniform set of the collected works of American novelist Howard Fast.  With a Foreword by African American academic and author W.E.B. Du Bois specially written for this new edition.  Freedom Road was dramatized on television in 1979 starring Muhammad Ali in the lead, playing a formerly-enslaved man elected to the U.S. Senate during Reconstruction.
