A collection of poems by the Rev. Dr. Walter Henderson Brooks. From the introduction we learn that Dr. Brooks was born a slave in Richmond, Virginia in 1851. By the time this book was published in 1945, the author had accomplished providing Sunday School instruction in the south, and serving as Pastor of Baptist churches in Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia.
