Trade card for Paris Hill, Maine dealer in human hair, Miss Nellie Rawson. Rawson’s product line included “Switches, Braids, Puffs, Curls, Frizzes, Front Pieces, Wigs, &c., &c.”
In addition, she advertised made-to-order “Ornamental Hair Jewelry, Chains, Pins, Earrings, Etc.” Her trade card also notes hair darkening services were available and that she purchased “All shades of Hair.” Rawson in seen in the record as a student in 1866 at the co-ed Paris Hill Academy in the English Department.¹
