Suzie a Shy Little Mouse.

“Squeakity, eekity, Squeakity, squeak”

A little mouse named Suzie who lives with her parents “in an old wooden box in a corner of the garden,” with toadstool “trees” outside the door.

Illustrations on the rectos cleverly depict the story’s action in a two-fold way: a vignette drawing at the bottom of the page sets the greater scene, while a larger, close-up illustration above depicts a plot moving event such as when Suzie falls and bends her tail!

Suzie’s mother puts butter on her tail, ties it up, and all ends well: “Squeakity, eekity, Squeakity, squeak”
