Spring Frolic presented by Colored Choral Society ... West Chester High School Auditorium… [opening lines of program]
“Ain’t Misbehavin’”
Rare; unrecorded. Music program for this Chester County African American choral society, heavily in the balance of female members. The music choices are interesting, in part: “Crying for the Carolines”, “The Butterfly and the Rose”, “Chant of the Jungle”, Fats Waller’s “Ain’t Misbehavin’.” As an aside, the program’s “Director”, William Palmer Lear (1908-1970), was a Chester County, Pennsylvania illustrator. Along with N.C. Wyeth he helped to found the Chester County Art Association. This organization thrives to this day.
