White men in Native American attire suggest they were members of the Improved Order of Red Men

Striking circa 1910 Ephrata, Pennsylvania photograph of a fraternal lodge showing some members dressed as Native Americans. The image shows an array of 46-star American flags and decorated arches surmounted by a ship’s mast. The members of the lodge pose in front of the display. Some are wearing quasi-military uniforms, a few others wearing Masonic-like finery, and there is a row of men in full Native American buckskin dress and feathered headdresses. The presence of large ceremonial ax or tomahawk may suggest they are members of the Improved Order of Red Men.
