Cook’s Tours in Florida.

Florida tourist railroad brochure with suggested travel routes with one way and round trip prices; unfolds to reveal full sheet map entitled “Cook’s Tourist Map of Florida” showing Florida railroads as far south as Tampa.  Includes indications of steamer routes directly to Havana and to Mexico via New Orleans.  A reference in the brochure to “the New U.S. Mail Route via Tampa to Key West and Havana” likely dates the brochure and map to c.1885.¹

OCLC returns little 19th-century material for the firm of Thomas Cook that solely relates to Florida: 824482969 (AAS only) an 1881 map; 43720667 (one holding) an 1898 booklet; 958425299 (SMU only) a pamphlet; 176253103 (NYHS only) periodical.

The 1881 map at AAS (their entry 490136) is similar, but not identical to the present example which is apparently unrecorded.
