Five programs from African-American churches in Chester, Marcus Hook, and Linwood in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Four of the programs are for the “Annual Women’s Day” held on a rotational basis at various denominations of black churches there. A fifth program is for the mid-year closing exercises of a grammar school. Black congregations represented here are St. Daniel’s M.E. Church and St. Luke C.C. Church in Chester; Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Marcus Hook,; and Mt. Hebron A.M.E. Church in Linwood. Women’s Day activities were entirely conducted by women, including prayers, sermons, and devotionals. Other features of the days included hymn singing, history readings and other talks or “papers.”
