A handsome edition of Hamilton’s 1744 journey narrative, and with scenes from his travels, illustrated in facsimile with leaves from his journal. DAB: “His report of his travels forms an interesting document of observation and opinion, disclosing intimately to the reader the manners of the colonies and of the recorder himself.”

This copy inscribed and presented to S. Weir Mitchell by Bixby, the publisher. Then inscribed and signed beneath by S. Weir Mitchel who presents the the book to his friend John Cadawalader.  Like Mitchell, Cadawalader may also have been a physician in Philadelphia.
