Guide book to the 1939 New York World’s Fair transportation exhibit Futurama, sponsored by General Motors. Designed by Norman Bel Geddes, the exhibit and ride transported fairgoers on an 18-minute ride with special effects through a scaled down futuristic landscape of automated highways and streamlined expressways.
The guidebook describes the one-third mile ride and “Highways and Horizons” exhibit of urban wonders, Art Deco buildings, and planned suburban communities, multi-lane highways connecting all. Rear cover depicts a motor car “display salon” of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, La Salle, and Cadillac cars. With prefatory remarks by Alfred P. Sloan, Jr., Chairman and CEO of General Motors.
