Premonitions of climate change, a book agent’s canvassing book for the most dreadful hurricane and deadly aftermath that befell the citizens of Galveston, Texas. The title page screams of “Narrows Escapes from the Jaws of Death” and of vandals plundering corpses (this text re-phrased on the broadside-like leaf before the subscriber’s pages: “...the vandals who rushed in to strip lifeless bodies”), property destruction, the endless sufferings, etc.

Well-illustrated with halftone plates from original photographs showing the horrendous destruction. The book could be bought in cloth or the de luxe edition was bound in “Morocco Grained Keratol” —a sample of the latter inside the rear cover.
