1926 Pocket directory of San Francisco with foldout map sheet. The combination street guide and city directory includes one unusual feature as part of the text: 68 “Car-O-Grams” or micro maps showing municipal railway and elevated and cable car lines within San Francisco and reaching out to its connecting ferries and suburban towns.
The large fold-out map sheet comprises two maps plus smaller inset maps. These include 1. “Map of the City and County of San Francisco by H.A. Candrian from the Latest Certified Data, 1926” with parks, cemeteries, etc. shaded in green and with insets showing elevations of various highway routes, etc. and 2. “Map of the City of San Mateo also Showing the Latest Additions and Subdivisions” with inset maps of Daly City and San Bruno, both in San Mateo County.
Includes display ads for Cottrell Bros. moving company; Franklin Hospital and its “Training School for Nurses”; Asti Vineyards; The American Bank; and for Candrian’s Street Guides. OCLC returns five possible examples, this published date or earlier.
